Description
Creating clothes inevitably leaves behind fabric offcuts – small fragments too precious to discard. Instead of letting them go to waste, we carefully collect these leftovers from our own production and give them a second life. On the island of Prangli, a local craftswoman hand-weaves them into one-of-a-kind rugs, continuing the tradition of Estonian rag weaving in a new and modern way.
Unlike classic rag rugs, which are usually made only from jersey, ours are woven from a unique mix of materials: coat wool, linings, shirt fabrics and more. To ensure the rug keeps its shape and durability, 5–15% of recycled jersey yarn is added as a stabilizer. The result is a rug that is sturdy yet soft, practical yet full of character.
Each rug is entirely unique – no two will ever look the same. The colours and textures depend on the fabrics available at the moment, making every piece a small surprise and a true one-of-a-kind treasure.
By choosing this rug, you are not only embracing local craftsmanship but also supporting women living on Prangli island, helping to keep life and tradition vibrant in a small community. At the same time, you are part of a larger story: valuing materials to the very last thread, giving them meaning beyond their first purpose.
