What we stand for.
carolxott was born in Northern Estonia, on a tiny island called Prangli. Life there is shaped by the sea and scarcity – not everything is at your fingertips, unlike in the city. Growing up, I watched how locals made the most of what they had, repairing, reusing, and inventing clever solutions rather than buying something new since it was just not always possible when the storm was taking over the sea. It has always been a hassle to bring anything on the island. The same philosophy was with me also when graduating from the Estonian Academy of Arts. You don’t have all the tools and opportunities in your hands, you have to use what you have and make the most out of it. The same way of thinking has followed us till this day.
Social sustainability
For us, sustainability is not only about materials – it is also about people. One of the most meaningful parts of our work is the collaboration with local women on Prangli island, who create knitwear for carolxott. By working together, we help sustain their way of life on the island and keep traditional skills alive. Another project that kicked off in 2023 is collecting the fabric leftovers from our productions and making rag rugs out of them. These rugs are also made on Prangli island.

Materials
From the very beginning, our collections have been built on industrial deadstock, overlooked textiles, and materials that traditional fashion consumers often find unappealing. Instead of discarding them, we reimagine them – dyeing, treating, and reshaping fabrics until they become something bold, fresh, and unexpected. Where possible, we also use monomaterials, making garments and accessories easier to care for, and ultimately, easier to recycle. We source leather offcuts from the footwear and furniture industries. Leather, by its very nature, is a precious material – it once belonged to a living being. That is why we feel a responsibility to honor it fully, using every last piece and giving it new life through design.
Production philosophy
Beyond Prangli, we choose to work in small production runs that respect the pace of our makers. This way we avoid excess and waste, and we resist the pressure of trend-driven fashion cycles. This makes every piece special and carries the story of our brand.
